Week and a half!

I felt like I’ve been too MIA here on my blog… Well, I didn’t really have anything to write about since school STILL didn’t start, but just a quick post…
WEEK AND A HALF TILL SCHOOL STARTS! I am so bored to the point where I am insanely excited for school to start and to enter the dorms. Especially after finding this video about someone’s dorm in the Ginkgo House (Zelkova, Oak, and Ginkgo all have a similar (or the same I think) layout). I will insert video… heerreee↓

So the other day, I FINALLY met up with a friend! Believe it or not, he was the first friend I met up with in Japan. He’s my really good friend from Japan who also used to live in Hawaii. However, he left Hawaii in.. our Sophmore year, so I rarely get to see him. I was really really happy to see him(finally lol) and we got to explore the mountains in Kobe, and got to see phones at Yodobashi Camera!
So after that visit, I think I finaaaallly decided on a phone to get! So after a loooooooong discussion with my dad, and I think I’m fairly set on docomo’s Sony Xperia acro. I swear, seeeexxy phone<3

So that wasn't the best video to watch, but at least it was in English? haha. So I heard from MANY people that docomo has probably by far, the best reception and good phones. Also, my dad said that I should get it because their sim cards can be unlocked or something of the sort. I didn't really understand what that's good for, but something about using it overseas…………? I trust my dad. haha. I really wanted to get Softbank, but only because I LOVE the Otousan character… my god, ❤
So one last video before I crash.. I'm in love with this song…………I'm even listening to it now x) listen…down below↓

Okay~ I hope you liked all those videos I posted, and see you next time!

Going back to my last days in Hawaii…

So as I said before in my last post, I’m going to write about some of the things I did during my last few days in Hawaii. Hmm… I’ll write about robotics, beach, and the last day with my two good friends.
Robotics. I devoted most of my after school hours to our robotics club since my Freshman year. Yes, I’m talking about the very girl who had NO interested in robots, electricity, science, what so ever in Elementary learned to love robotics (even though I can barely do crap except for driving the robot…). And every summer, our robotics club hosts a summer robotics camp. So instead of going back to Japan(HOLY CRAP DEJAVU MOMENT…anyways…) early with my mom and brother, I stayed behind for a little while longer so I can help with the camp. There’s 48 elementary kids in the morning (8:00-12:00) and 24 intermediate kids in the afternoon (1:00-5:00). CRAAAAZY. The morning class is divided into two groups, and each go to a different classroom and learn about a specific robotics program, then at around 10, they switch sides. I helped the NXT (legos) side, and my younger kids were nice, calm, and quiet, while my older kids were loud, obnoxious, and crazy. The older group also had a slightly autistic boy, so making him work with the other boy was tiring… x_x The afternoon group were able to work on their own, so I was able to relax 😀 In the end I became the camera woman for my friend who was making the end of the week slideshow. I think it came out pretty good, although I kept criticizing him that it was too short in the beginning x) I could go on and on about my tiring experience, but I’ll stop here.
BEACH! I love the beach. I’d love it more if salt didn’t make my body and hair all sticky. Gross. So we drove for about..err… hour half? And we got to this nice sandy beach. After some minutes of sun screening, we went right into the water. Mm not much to write about the beach really. After we swam we made a castle and my friend was “sabotaging” it by throwing sand on where I dug but ended up helping us x) Well, until the tunnel he made collapsed hahah. After that they buried me in a hole… I thought my lungs were going to collapse -_-; I hopped into my friend’s parent’s car on the ride home and we took a stop at a Orange Julius. I was a fatty and bought a smoothie and a banana cream pie blizzard :3 It was sooo worth it 😀 what else… I laughed at my friend’s sleeping face with my other friend x) He sleeps with his mouth wide open and his arm kept on twitching haha! Then I fell asleep… and my friend took a picture of me with my other friend who was sleeping already… we both had our mouths open ^^;
And then my last day. I had two of my friends over and one of my friends all of a sudden said that he wanted to make Macachos. For those who don’t know what they are, it’s from DailyGrace’s video right here My goodness he got me hooked x) she’s so funny. But yeah. We went shopping for Macachos ingredients and cooked it in my kitchen. So I left my dad with a pan of macachos… sorry dad.. hope you liked them. 😛 Then my dad sent me a text message that said “you wanna go out to eat?” in Japanese. The way he wrote it can be taken two ways – 1. Do you want to go out to eat with your friends? and 2. Do you want to go out for dinner with me. Anndddd…. I thought he meant with my friends since I was just talking about dinner with them… sigh…. sorry dad. So we went to the mall because we didn’t know what to do, and then we were just on our way to dinner… Until my dad called and asked what I wanted to do. and I was incredibly confused… siigh. So in the end, he told me that I should go out with my friends and don’t worry about him.. Ahhhhhhhh the guilt. I’ll definitely go out with him next time… maybe I can treat him. If I work… I should go get a job. So yeah, we went out and ate, and then went to walmart so I could buy Hawaiian stuff to take with me to Japan x) Yes, this is where they bought the crossword and the other omiages… haha yeah, right in front of me x) I didn’t mind though hahaha. Oh! Matchan if you’re reading this right now, I wore the shirt today! ❤ It was comfy :3
So yeah, that concludes my last three days in Hawaii… next time I'll probably post about… yeah I lie I don't know. So stay tuned and click the woop woop button on the right column to follow my weird adventures~ Dailytoli is gonna take you on a weird adventureeee *dinggg* *Grace face* …Byeeeeee

Ahhhhh Japan~

First thing’s first. IT’S BLEEPIN HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTT. x_____X it’s 8 in the morning, and I’m just sitting here typing away and I’m sweating away…. KILLLLL MEH.
I left Hawaii on July 12, and some of my friends came to see me off. I tried the Hawaiian crossword one of my friends got me… it’s barely Hawaiian, and it’s freakin haaaaard. Well, I’ve never been too great at crosswords… But I thought since it’s “Hawaiian”, it’ll be doable. Apparently not. I also got to see my friend from Oahu, and we got to talk for a good 30 minutes or so ^^. Then on the JAL flight, the lady next to me slept most of the way here except for during meals. I wish she slept through lunch… She spilled her tea on my left foot, so my sock was soaked. Good thing I was just wearing crocs though. So when I got to my grandparent’s house, my cousin asked why I only had one sock on x)
Ok, so this is my 3rd day in Japan, and I already did so much. The first day, my mom dragged me to the…office of residency? But yeah, I got my residency switched over from America to Japan… Now if I want to go back… I have to go as a visitor that can only stay for 30 days at a time… D: Then I went to a local festival and pigged out x)
Second day, I watched HARRY POTTER<3 I have been a Harry Potter fan since elementary, and I was so bummed when my dad told me that I'm leaving Hawaii on the 12th, when I could've gone to see the midnight premier with my friends on the 15th. But since I saw it here, I got to watch it before any of my friends, even the one who's visiting California right now x) boooyahhh winnerrrr x)
Third day. In a little while, I'm off to see the Pokemon movie, both black and white. …pokenerd for life… x) I hope I don't see any of my friends here… just a tad embarrassing x) But oh well. Oh, and in order for me to get the pokemon (you get a pokemon as a present when you go watch), I think I'm gonna go buy either Black or White. My goodness it takes forever to grow out of Pokemon! x) I don't know if I ever will x)

Maybe I'll add pictures later, and I'll most likely post an entry about my last several days in Hawaii later~
But for the time being, toooootles~

My long awaited dorm information!

Yep, it came!  I bet I would’ve gotten it the day before if it weren’t for 4th of July, but whatevers, I got it! 😀  So I’m in the Zelkova house, and I’m pretty content with this dorm.  I’ve heard that it’s the strictest dorm, and how it’s called the “prison” or whatever, but I think it’s better to be in the strict one at least for my first year or so in college.

From what I read on a blog by a dorm resident, it sounds like a dorm everyone would avoid at all costs… to be more precise… But I put Zelkova as my number one choice.  I’ll find out if that turns out to be for the best… or if it was suicide soon enough.  I also found out from this girl’s twitter (I just searched Zelkova dorm and she came up on google x) that there’s only a total of 15 September students at Zelkova.  Dang.  Either there’s an insanely little amount of September students, or Zelkova is really unpopular…… .__.  whaaatevs.

I’d write more about my dorms, but since I had my mom take my college documents over to Japan with her, I have no idea what exactly the dorm is like….. boo.  So I’m just relying on the facts given by Reiyd and the ICU’s Zelkova page heereee…..  and (virtual tour) and is the new student dorms blog.  You can see some pictures of the inside 😀

So that’s about all I have for tonight, may post about my little adventure with my friend next time.  Till then~

Letter from ICU

So that letter I was talking about from my last post about my email from ICU came…err…. several days ago (I took too long to write this post…).  But to my disappointment, they didn’t include the dorm information I was long anticipating.  However, I emailed the admissions office right away and they emailed me back saying that the information should come soon in the mail.  So I get to wait for another letter…. yaaaayy… the anticipation is killing me… TT^TT

So anyways, it had 5 things inside – a message from the Educational Affairs Group, Information from the Academic Planning Center about the ICUfolio and NetCommons password, information about NetCommons, ICU Regulations and the University Declaration of Human Rights, and The ICU no.28.  Not a very interesting package, but I was able to log into ICUfolio successfully, but even though they’re supposed to have the same password, I couldn’t get into NetCommons.  So I had to click “forgot my password” and change it.

So after being excited about being able to log into my first ICU network thing, the first thing I saw on the screen for ICUfolio was the pre-matriculation essay… TT_____TT  It’s really not that hard since they won’t be looking for writing structure and what not.  You just have to write about your fields of interest and why you’re interested, your academic goals, future plans, etc etc.  I’m guessing if other schools have a pre-entrance essay, they’ll probably look like this too.

Now, I’m just anxiously waiting for my dorm information… 2 days of no mail (Sunday and 4th of July…) is driving me INSANE.  T^T why can’t I be more patient…. My friend got hers………. she even talked to her….. major jealously here. D: …….. well then… byebye folks… hopefully my next update will be about my dorm bud.

Shoots den…. T^T

Other than the essay, I just had to update my profile on both NetCommons and the ICUfolio and what not, look at the

Mauna Kea

So right now I’m in the Subaru telescope’s huge and fancy suv car thing on the way up to the telescope. Even though I’ve lived here for eleven years already, this will be my first time inside the actual telescope. Saddle road is really bumpy….
Okay, so were at Hale Pohaku, the visitor’s center right now. Actually, we’re on our way down already. So I guess I’ll start my actual entry here while everyone’s sleeping.
First, we took our lunch break at the staff resting area, where the workers eat or sleep before going up to the very top.  People going up have to rest for a minimum or thirty minutes to get used to the altitude. Joe and Andy played pool in the lounge while I just sat and talked with our guide. We took off again at about two o’clock.
At the summit, we were given a short safety lecture, and our guide taught us how to breathe properly up at the summit. Deeeeeeeep breaths.  It really helped since the oxygen level is about 60% compared to down at sea level.  Okay, so I said I was writing in the car at Hale Pohaku… This is where I stopped since I got a little headache x) so I’m continuing this a week later at home haha.

So some quick facts about Mauna Kea… so Mauna Kea  stands 4205 m (13796 ft) from sea level, and has 13 telescopes standing on its peak.  So the telescope we visited was Subaru telescope, the telescope built by the Japanese.  The outside has a unique cylindrical shape, unlike the other spherical ones.  The telescope itself is a pretty blue ^^

So continuing off to where I left off… after the safety lecture at the summit, we were given an hour~hour half tour of the facility.  First our guide showed us the telescope itself, then she took us to this self er…moving robot.  (ESL moment… x_x)  To my surprise, there was a picture of a girl… to be specific, that main character(?) girl from Evangelion.  Apparently the artist came and autographed… the robot… .__. Well, I guess Japanese astronomers are regular otaku people in disguise? x)  So after that, she took us down to the basement where they had various tools and goods that needed organizing stored… not very interesting.   After a little while of looking around the basement, we heard over the PA that the telescope was going to move, so climbed up again.  To all of our surprise, the telescope moved REALLY slowly, and really quietly.  And that was the end of our tour pretty much.  To wrap it up, we signed the visitor’s book, found our friend’s page back in 2010, and climbed into the car and fell asleep.

And it goes right back to the beginning where I woke up at Hale Pohaku.  Hope you found my boring post even just a bit interesting.

Email from ICU

Ahhh you guys won’t know how relieving this email was for me.  Well, it also got me excited, so in conclusion, that was an awesome email.

So I was walking toward the shower when I heard my iPod’s email notification.  I look to see that ICU had sent out an email notifying us that the letter with the password to NetCommons had been sent out.  They told us that NetCommons is a portal site where we can find out more information about the entrance procedures, including the orientation schedule.  So I’m really hoping and assuming, that our dorm information as well as our dorm mate information will be provided as well.

So ICU said that for people living in Japan, it should take about 2-3 days for the letter to come, while us people outside of Japan will have to wait about a week.  I’m really hoping that it’ll come in a week because of 2 reasons.  One, because I’m super excited and anxious for the mail, and two, because I’m leaving for Japan in about 2 and a half weeks.  Ahhhh! Can’t wait ^^ I’ll post again about the contents of the mail sometime when it comes :3

Ahhh happy happy ^^ ciao~

P.S. I drew Arrietty 😀
